I thought it might be appropriate to have Kanon as the first other artist mentioned. She has a lot in common with Mary-Jess. Kanon is a classical crossover artist that combines the East and West together, but in the opposite way. Mary-Jess is from the West mixing in the East and releasing it in the West, whilst Kanon is from the East, mixing in the West and releasing it in the East (did you catch that?) Like most Eastern artists, albums are really hard to get hold of and her most Western influenced albums cost a bucket to import (though they are worth it!) Fortunately, she HAS released her latest album in the West which is called A New Story - it's a collaboration with famous Japanese composer Nobuo Uematsu. This album was nominated for Album of the Year award on CC UK (it lost out to Shine!) However, her Japanese albums are well worth the effort: Primary Flowers, Sanctuary and Precious. She sings mostly in English though there are some Japanese songs. Kanon is another of my favourite artists; one of my best discoveries from Nicola's website. I have most of her albums. My favourites are 'Primary Flowers' and 'A New Story' but I can wholeheartedly recommend them all (despite the expense). One of her stand-out songs for me is the exquisite 'Wings to Fly'.

Also one of my big favourites, though I only have A New Story at the moment.
Out of interest, I have found that the French are big on the Japanese artists and I have managed to obtain some albums from French stores a lot cheaper than importing them direct from Japan.

Primary Flowers and A New Story are my favourites also! Thanks for that tip, Gary! Will definitely check that out. I've had to reel in my spending on Japanese music because of the vast expense.

Kanon is a new one on me, I've never heard of her before. I've had a quick listen to the videos and she's well worth a longer and better listen. Thanks for bringing her to our attention Nicola . One day I'll find the time to go over to your classical crossover site and have a full and proper read of all the articles. ;D

But be warned, the CC site can be very addictive and lead to empty wallets. There is so much good music out there.
