On 28 March, Mary Jess turns 22. She has stated on facebook that it would be great to reach 1000 followers on Twitter and that would be a lovely birthday present from her fans. When I last looked she was at 926 so we have about a month to spread the word and get her to her target.
I also thought that it would be nice to send her a birthday card from the Forum. I know it would be hard for us all to sign the card personally but maybe if you want to add a birthday message you could PM me or Dazza and we could cut and paste any special messages into a Forum card? I think she would be over the moon with this, what are your thoughts?
Bob
Edit by Dazza We have a card for Mary-Jess which will be handed to her in person by those attending the concert in Northleach on Friday 16th March. Those who are there are very welcome to sign the card personally.
If you wish to add your message for Mary-Jess to the card PM your message to either myself or Bob before Wednesday 14th March

That would be a lovely gesture for her birthday. I know Mary-Jess would absolutely love it.
I would be very happy to get a card, add any birthday messages that people would like to put down and arrange to forward the card to Mary-Jess in time for her birthday. You could even hand write it and scan/photograph it if you prefer for that personal touch.
If you have any birthday messages or anything else you would like to add, just PM either Bob or myself and we'll be happy to add them to a card.

Thanks Dazza, I am more than happy to contribute to the cost of a card. It would be a lovely way of saying thank you for her support and let her know we are behind her every step of the way.
Thanks for taking this on. I was more than happy to get a card but it makes sense that you are best placed to do this as you are in the UK.
I will send you my birthday wishes soon.

Ooh! What a lovely idea. I am usually useless at thinking of original greetings to write in cards, but I am sure that Mary-Jess could inspire me to come up with something a bit more creative.

It is no problem at all Bob, I hope that there is a lot of interest in this because it would be a lovely gesture.
I think that we need to set a date for which messages need to be in by, would everybody be happy with a deadline of Tuesday 20th March?
I want to try and show my creative side too, I know what I would like to do with my message but i'll keep it under wraps for now as it might not work out.
Just PM your message or anything else you would like to add to either Bob or myself.

I think this is a brilliant idea Mary Jess would absolutely love this. I'll PM you, Dazza, when I've thought of something suitable witty

I look forward to receiving it Simon.
I have made this thread an Announcement for a few days, just to lessen the chance of someone missing it.

Just a thought if we have any graphic designers in the Forum we could make/design our own card using the Forum colours and super impose Mary Jess photos on the front?

Wondering if this might be an option? Last year some members of Camilla Kerslake's forum organised an ecard from www.groupcard.com/ for her birthday. I think it was sent to individuals via email and allowed them to leave a message and also a photo should they wish. This is a link that I hope will work to the card that was done for Camilla to give you an idea of how it looked. www.groupcard.com/c/dCj_-E7EWyL/Anyway, a possibility perhaps?

That looks like a very interesting idea Graham,
I personally think that a real card just gives more of a personal touch and would also be a nice keepsake, but that card for Camilla looks fantastic and if people prefer to do that I will happily set it up.

Maybe we can do both? Personally, I like a card to arrive through the post and you generally keep special ones that mean a lot to you as keep sakes. It is much better to have a card displayed in your home as you cannot do this with e-Cards.

I think that it would be better to do either one or the other rather than both. If people are still split on which way we should go with this it might be a good idea to set up a poll.
I have found a beautiful card I think Mary-Jess would love, I don't want to post it here as I wish to keep it a surprise (in case Mary-Jess herself reads this thread) but I will happily share it over PM if you are interested in seeing it.
I also think that Graham's idea with the e-card is a good one and would happily set it up if that is what people preferred to do.

I would prefer a real card, but I would contribute to an e-card if that is what the majority think. With only 24 members at present, a real card would be feasible this year. If the number of messages grew to the hundreds in future (let's look on the bright side ) then it would be too much for one person to handle.

I agree real card would be nicer and more personal as there only 24 members.
