Hi all, I am looking to change the ranking system and would like some feedback and suggestions. Presently the ranking system is as follows:
500 Posts - God 250 Posts - Senior Member 100 Posts - Full Member 50 Posts - Junior Member 0 = New Member
I know from previous Forums that I have been associated with there were some concerns regarding the use of 'God' and also the number of posts to achieve various ranking levels.
I used the ranking system of an orchestra for the Mariette Davina forum but wanted something different for Mary Jess. Does anybody know 5 things about Mary Jess that we could use for each ranking level perhaps?

Bob,
I'm never a fan of using the God term. As Mary-Jess won the 'Chinese X-Factor' and her music very much has a Chinese influence I've been thinking of using the last 5 Chinese Dynasties
Liao Dynasty = 0 Song Dynasty = 50 Yuan Dynasty = 100 Minq Dynasty = 250 Qing Dynasty = 500+
What does everybody else think?

What a fabulous idea Simon, maybe it will also attract more Chinese fans to the site.

Why do we have to be ranked?

Unfortunately we have no choice as it is built into the proboards mechanism. We do have choice in the number of posts for to achieve each rank and can determine what each level is called. That is another reason why the dynasty system appeals as the default system of New, Junior, Full, Senior and God imply more of a status symbol when you reach a certain number of posts and every member is equal despite the number of times they post on the site. A more fairer way would be to record the visits to the site as some members visit quite often but have nothing to say or post.

I appreciate the inability to disregard a ranking system but some frivolous members on other forums type one-liners or just a row of smilies simply to gain points.

Should one offer congratulations?

Should one offer congratulations? Don't worry, Jill. It was just a one-liner and a row of smilies
