We all know that SHINE is unique in that all the tracks are original versions. However, do you have a particular favourite song that you would like Mary Jess to cover? I would be interested to know members comments? Sent from my HTC Explorer A310b using ProBoards

Check out the song "Nobody Knows But Me" by Tibetan singer Alan (Dawa Dolma) who's big in the J-pop world. There's a Japanese and Chinese version of this song. I bet it's on youtube somewhere.
Alan has a couple other notable songs "Chi Bi ~Da Jiang Dong Qu~" and "Red Cliff (End Roll Version)". There's a Japanese and Chinese version of both of these songs as well.

I never answer questions like this, because I am always hoping that the artist will delight me with something unexpected. With Mary-Jess, I am sure I won't be disappointed. But I love reading about other people's thoughts. I might have to investigate some of your suggestions, Jenny.

Really loved the video you posted John (on facebook) of Mary-Jess singing 我願意 by Faye Wong (from 5 minutes in):
).
I adore Faye Wong and would love to have Mary-Jess bring some of her music to the West. Faye Wong isn't interested in the Western market at all, so she's not accessible to us. She does cover many Western songs though!
Would love Mary-Jess to cover 郵差 (English translation is 'Postman'). I wish I could link to it somehow, but it's near on impossible to find a particular song by Faye on Youtube as I don't think it understands the Chinese letters properly. The most famous Faye Wong song is actually in English and it's called 'Eyes On Me' (which Japanese classical crossover artist Kanon recently covered).
The first notes always make me tear up! The song represents a lot for me:

I would love to hear this and think it is important for Mary Jess to continue to mix the East and West in her music. This gives her an edge over other cc singers and unique to her.

As a big lover of Jia Ruhan, I would love to hear Mary-Jess cover some of her work, maybe even with English lyrics.

I think that Mary-Jess would do a wonderful version of 'Now We Are Free' the theme song from Gladiator.
I don't know enough about Chinese or Eastern music to make any suggestions in that direction.
Like John, I like being surprised and if Shine is anything to go by I don't think we have anything to worry about there.

How do embed youtube videos into the forum? **Edit: Thanks nicola! Here are the songs I mentioned before. Alan "Chi Bi ~Da Jiang Dong Qu~ (Chinese Version)" I have to say, I like the Japanese version of this song better. It's in a slightly lower key. Sounds better for Alan's voice. Alan "Nobody Knows But Me (Japanese Version Live)": Here the recorded Chinese Version of "Nobody Knows but Me": www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TVkhpnQQ8YAlan "Red Cliff (End Roll Version)":

I think that 'May It Be' would also be a great song for Mary-Jess.
Originally composed by Enya for the first Lord of the Rings film, but my favourite version is by Hayley Westenra. I think Mary-Jess would do a beautiful version.
And something a bit different, but I thought I would put it out there. Katie Melua's Nine Million Bicyles. It's a beautiful song and I think a more classical version could work well for Mary-Jess, slowed down with more eastern influences in the music.

How good is your Chinese Mary-Jess? One of several Jia Ruhan songs I'd love to hear Mary-Jess sing.
