For any music that you think may be of interest to other members or you would like other members to feedback on.

Indeed. Is "other music" primarily for other classical crossover artists? I love Celtic Woman. I only discovered All Angels a few days ago, but I think they're great as well. Luna, I am so pleased to hear that you are discovering new artists that you like. If you don't know about it already, it is well worth exploring Nicola's Classical-Crossover website www.classical-crossover.co.uk/There are many wonderful artists profiled there just waiting to be discovered. Classical crossover has been my primary focus over the past couple of years, but Mary-Jess isn't really typical. I don't think this section needs to be limited to a particular genre. There are many other artists that would probably appeal to Mary-Jess fans.

Thanks for the link! What a great website.
Classical crossover is a new term to me. Several of my favourite musical artists seem to be defined as classical crossover artists though. Josh Groban, Vanessa Mae, Celtic Woman, Sarah Brightman etc. My all time favourite band is Muse.
No, I don't think so either. I was just a little confused.

If you like Muse Luna, check out All Angels' cover of Starlight if you haven't already.
I am so glad you are discovering new artists here, like John I don't think this section needs to be limited to classical crossover, if you like an artist you think will appeal to other members then please feel fee to start a thread. Classical-Crossover.co.uk is a brilliant website.
To keep the thread focused on Laura, I have found a video which I haven't seen before of Laura rehearsing 'Scarborough Fair' with Craig Ogden,

I just watched it. I'd say it's the best cover I've heard! Beautiful.
Discovered David Garret yesterday when I was browsing classical-crossover.co.uk. I'm certain I've heard his name before though. He's incredibly talented! He also looks like the lovechild of Kurt Cobain and Thor.
Lovely video of Laura. Scarborough Fair is a great song

David Garrett is a great talent. Glad you found him on my site! <3 He tours pretty much all the time (across the world) so I'm sure you will be able to see him.
Dazza, is it yet known which direction Laura's next album will be going in?

I don't know anything about the next album, I know Laura has been in studio so I am expecting news in the next month or so.
I just hope that gorgeous version of Morning Has Broken she did for Songs of Praise will be on it.

There is info about Laura's new album on her official website... It looks like the album will be called 'Glorious'. Now where have I heard that name before The track listing looks packed full of patriotic songs, I guess to coincide with the Jubilee tour she is doing with Russell Watson as well as the Olympics. I wondered why Russell W tweeted the other day asking for songs about Britain. I sent him about 5 of those on the list and he chose Jerusalem as his favorite. A co-incidence perhaps?

I saw Laura last week but unfortunately not in concert and not even singing I went to the Indigo2 in London to see the finals of 'Next Brit Thing', a talent contest for young people aged 11 to 19. One of the young classical singers I support along with Jackie and Hollie is Katie Marshall and she had already won the regional semi-finals of NBT and gained a place at the big event. The entries were split into 'General' and 'Classical' and Laura was one of the judges alongside operatic tenor Noah Stewart. She gave some really good, supportive comments to the young people performing and seemed (in the very restricted situation of the contest) to be a very nice person who encouraged the youngsters to use their gifts and continue on their chosen path even if they didn't win. The winner by the way, was Sarah Gardner, a staggeringly talented sixteen year old pianist. It was a great evening.

Thanks for sharing that Nigel. I heard about that contest from another talented soprano 14 year old Georgia Odette who also appeared on BGT.

Thanks Nigel, I enjoyed Laura's updates on Twitter about The Next Brit Thing, she seemed to really enjoy being involved.
I have just booked my first Laura concert of the year, in Nottingham on 30th June on the Russell Watson tour.
